Pumpkin Paintings with Warm and Cool Colors!

Observational drawing and painting, plus warm and cool color theory.

During pumpkin season the art room became a pumpkin patch as the kindergarten artists were able to touch and feel real pumpkins and then draw and paint them. We read the story called "The legend of Spookley the Square Pumpkin" and were able to discover that pumpkins can have unique shapes, sizes, colors and textures.

As we created our beautiful drawings we also learned about color theory. This project was a wonderful introduction to using "warm" (red, orange and yellow) and "cool" (green, blue and purple) colors in our artwork.
