HISPANIC HERITAGE PRINTS

Fourth graders used the symbols of the indigenous South and Central Americans, and Mexican Indians as an influence in their creation of two-color, patterned prints. The students sketched out their ideas and then used two 3x4 inch styrofoam printing blocks into which they engraved two different designs. Working in printer's ink they created artwork that is authentically in the style of the artwork of the indigenous people and is in the spirit of Claremont's celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month.
